What happened to the Mini 110?

First one was the best netbook I have ever seen or heard of. Solid State harddrive means it boots in no time (in spite of Windows and background programs), best net-book keyboard ever, halfway decent mouse pad, etc. However, apparently having one's girlfriend spill Sangria on it is 2.5 times as expensive as a replacement, so that brings me to my...Second one, they stopped making the solid state hard drive for it. Okay, so, still not all that bad overall. Lasted about 2-3 years as well, until my Roomba decided to eat it's power cord and pull it off of a desk...apparently certain Retail Store service plans do not cover all the damage, just what's obvious (got it back but "w" and "a" were sticking a bit, then the hing on that side snapped from previous damage that went un-repaired, hence my going directly to HP for number 3).Just got the newest incarnation of the mini 110. They decided to re-design it in such a way that invalidated everything that made the HP Mini any different than any other netbook on the market. The "new" keyboard design is now the same horrible keys everyone else is using (the flat step ones rather than the older hp larger, curve in ones that looked and felt better), they replaced the mouse pad with the good old random holes everyone else uses, and they changed the battery design, making it less intuitive to put in and allowing for more exposed circuitry on the underside of the computer when it's out (and, of course, making my old battery useless as a backup).Just like every other netbook on the market, and there are few options for customization (yet it takes just as long as any other laptop), so if you were thinking of the mini, just hit up a store and buy whatever they have in stock. Same difference, and you won't have to wait for your mediocrity. It's also 7, not XP, but this change is to be expected, so.New curving dynamics of the body shape I could do without, but if you're going to make this big a design change, at least make a better hinge system; I can see my Roomba out of the corner of my eye plotting to destroy this one's hinges as well.Is it a bad computer? No, but it inherited a name that was once great, but squandered it on trying to be like the competition. What the stars mean:
Performance: 3 - assuming it's no better or worse than previous versions (had to give a number, so)Features: 1 - again, everything I loved about the mini is gone.

Overall - math is hard!

Horrible

The speakers stopped working after the first six months. This problem is now fixed, but they still make strange noises from time to time. The touch pad stopped working after a year, when my warranty expired. The problem is, it's intermittent. So it will stop working for a week or two and then work for a month, and then stop working for a few more weeks. It's not a huge deal since you can buy external mouse, but it is annoying and shouldn't be happening. My drivers started crashing about a month ago.... my display driver was the last to go. After that, the laptop is completely useless. So it's currently being fixed for that.My motherboard crashed and it's going to cost me a lot to fix it. At this point I'm considering buying a new laptop all together.I know that things like this happen. BUT. It's under two years old so I find this ridiculous.I would also like to note that the computer was never dropped, nothing ever happened to it. I do not download any music, movies, or anything else to that nature.

I've never had problems with HP laptops before. I've owned two other HP products and they were great. So it's extremely upsetting that this happened.

Buyer Beware!

All she had used it for was surfing and word processing. It took two hours going back and forth with the tech for them to understand what was going on.

I could understand problems a few months down the road, but less than a week after first boot? I expected better quality from HP!
