Best PC I've Owned

The exterior of the laptop is beautiful! The material quality is great and I absolutely love the LED keyboard lights. The screen is so bright and clear, movies and games are a blast.I'm able to run multiple programs without any issues. So far I haven't had any problems with games (WoW, Sims 3), however I'm unable to use the 3D feature in the games without sacrificing fps. I like to have my games run on highest graphics settings possible and I refuse to lower graphics simply to view in 3D.Movies are beautiful on this screen! I was under the assumption that I needed a 3D Blu-Ray movie to experience 3D on this laptop; but it isn't necessary as it upgrades basic Blu-Ray movies to 3D- which was an awesome find. The HD cam is good enough to show my blemishes, no issues with it. The "CyberLink" YouCam suite also comes installed, which is quite interesting! You can alter your appearance; something I've never done before except on a Mac.The beatsaudio is nice, but certainly doesn't blow anything out of the water. When connected to external sound systems, it sounds awesome.I was unaware that my purchase of the Envy came with HP concierge support, which so far has been one of my best experiences with customer support. When I called about a question, I was instantly directed to an operator that spoke clear English and was very friendly. A couple days later I received a phone call from HP making sure everything was okay and if I had any other questions.

This is a great computer that is able to handle any tasks I've thrown at it. It handles all my entertainment needs without any issues, though it was a let down finding that the 3D doesn't work that great on intense graphical games.
The value is great, wouldn't have changed a thing except maybe a better video card. The customer service is exceptional and should be the standard for all companies. I've had the laptop for two weeks now and still falling in love with it, thanks so much HP!!!

I might return it

1. You CAN NOT turn off hyperthreading. You can change the time in the bios, and that's about the only bios setting you can change. This is the main reason why I'm thinking about returning it. If I had known this before-hand, I wouldn't have gotten this lapotop. My father's elitebook does have the option to turn off hyperthreading--I am envious (chuckle)... why, HP? why...2. The processor (2760qm) does not like to turbo boost. I have never seen it at it's rated 3.5ghz; 3.4 is the highest I've seen it go--and it wont stay there for long.3. There is no turbo boost while the laptop is running on battery. There is no setting to change this.4. The fan runs constantly, no matter what. Unless it's been sitting for an hour with all the powersaving options turned on.5. CPU-Z reports that my memory is made by "Hyundai Electronics". It's running at 1600mhz, clocks: 11-11-11-28-1T. (I went with the 8gb 1600mhz option).6. The recovery CD doesn't work with SSDs. I ended up copying the OS partition from the factory hard-drive onto my SSD, then used a retail version of windows to repair the copied partition so it would boot.7. After all that, decided to do a clean install of windows anyways; there were 80+ processes running at startup--most of which taskmanager wouldn't list. Of course, I lost all my bells and whistles, e.g. proximity sensor, 3D, beats button, hard drive drop protection, etc.

8. The screen is VERY GLOSSY and reflective.

HP Envy 17 3D THE BEAST!!!

The one thing im really impressed about was how quiet the machine is not to mention when i put it under pressure still quiet and not to mention how COOL it stays, im surprised after all or should i say most of the reviews i read about how hot they gets. So far its ICE COLD!When you talk about 3D being beautify its wonderful how well it looks, the glasses could have been better tho, but who cares. My only problem so far is finger prints, u have to keep wiping it off each time i finish using it.

But over all it a wonderful computer to use, and also a good replacement of a desktop machine, i would recommend this machine for sure.
